We are flying now.

I can’t believe September is coming to an end. I hope you are starting to settle in and are feeling less overwhelmed with . . . new math, new schedule, new techSteps, new students, and everything else a new school year brings.
I am here to help.

Here is what I have done and can do for you....
1. I have set up Education City with all of your classes. If you have misplaced your login info send me an e-mail. You don’t want to miss out on using the “white board’ resources.
2. I have trained all the students in the procedure to take an Accelerator Reader quiz.
3. I can be there when you are teaching your techSteps lessons to troubleshoot, help with set up, and if you wish, assist with instruction.
4. I can teach lessons to you and your students using the various Microsoft Office programs so that when you start the techSteps projects, it is not so new.
5. I can locate and post online resources to enhance your lessons. Please let me know how I can be of more help.
6. I can work with your students at the classroom computers during station time.
* The sky is the limit! Just ask. = )

Resources:
We have student responders (CPS) you can check out. If you have any tests you plan to give and you get them to me, I can make them interactive with the clickers.
There are two labs with 15 computers each. (Café and Writing Lab) I am looking for the opportunity to work with half of your class in one of the labs.
Our “Cow” with 30 laptops made it into the classroom for the first time this past Monday.

Things to Celebrate:
« We have had a number of 5th grade teachers and Laura in 4th grade already complete their first TechStep project. The TechStep site is ready for you to set up your classes and enter the rubric scores for students. Please do not leave this important step out. Once again I am here for assistance.
«Thanks to all of you for completing the Technology Survey for the coming year. You have some great goals for yourselves and I enjoy working with all of you!

Goals for Myself:
To Blog more frequently.
Co-teach with teachers to get whiteboards, tablets and mimios in better use.
Work with new teachers to bring them up to speed and help them feel more comfortable.
My final goal is to make myself unneeded. "For a good teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary." ~Thomas Carruthers

Coming Soon:
Information on the new WV Writes Assessment Site and your logins will be given to you in early October.
